Tablet Testing Equipment Requirements
Practical exams are administered via a tablet. Although any business level tablet may be used to administer practical exams, the following devices are recommended for use and meet recommended specifications:
- Apple iPad 8th generation or newer
- Apple iPad Pro 4th generation or newer
- Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 or newer
- Microsoft Surface Pro 7 or newer
For all devices, consider the following specifications chart:
*Refers to the amount of internal memory or storage space that is usable for storing data. This is critical to support testing when not connected to internet or Wi-Fi. Note that if your tablet is near its maximum capacity, it may prevent you from performing exams when not Wi-Fi connected.

PEPs who may be testing in extreme environments may consider exploring other products, additional accessories, and/or have multiple tablets available for each proctor to mitigate challenges related to weather conditions.
