CCO Adds "Share" myCCO Feature

CCO is making certification verification faster, easier, and more secure with new digital tools. Starting January 16, 2025, certificants can instantly share their certification details through their myCCO portal using email, text, WhatsApp, or QR code.

What This Means for Employers and Candidates

Share myCCO Button Introduction

Employers, unions, site owners, and other stakeholders can verify certifications instantly through links shared by certificants. These links connect directly to the Verify CCO Online (VCO) system, ensuring real-time access to accurate information.

Candidates will still manage their certifications in their MyCCO account, where a new "Share" button in the "My Certifications" section allows them to quickly share their certification status via email, text, WhatsApp, or QR code.

How the New “Share” myCCO Button Works

The "Share” myCCO button makes it easy for individuals to share documentation of their certification.

  1. Locate the "Share" button in the "My Certifications" section of your myCCO portal.
  2. Select the method of sharing: email, text, WhatsApp. If documentation is needed by someone in person, you can simply have them scan the QR code that will also be available.
  3. The recipient will receive a notification from the certificant stating, "[Certificant Name] is sharing their CCO certifications with you."
  4. Clicking the link in the notification directs the recipient to the certificants VCO page with verified certification status and details.

Why This Change?

The move to digital verification offers significant benefits:

  • Integrity: A physical card doesn’t guarantee certification status, as certifications may be revoked or suspended. Real-time, electronic verification ensures accuracy.
  • Fraud Prevention: Reducing reliance on physical cards minimizes instances of fraud or misuse.
  • Accuracy: Certification details are always up to date, including status and photo.
  • Digital Convenience: With certifications stored digitally, there’s no need to carry or risk losing a card.
  • Current Photo: Candidates can keep their photo up to date without the need for a new card.
  • Efficiency: Verification is instant, eliminating waiting times for a mailed card.

What Candidates Need to Do

To prepare for this transition, candidates and certificants must ensure they have an updated photo uploaded to their myCCO account. Keep in mind that a photo is only stored in myCCO if you have uploaded it yourself; having a photo on your wallet card does not mean it is in myCCO. Log in to your myCCO account immediately to check if a photo is uploaded. If not, upload one as soon as possible.

Individuals without a photo in myCCO may soon face restrictions on certain CCO activities.

Steps to Upload Your Photo:

  1. Log in to your MyCCO account.
  2. Click the "Update Photo" graphic next to your name.
  3. Upload or take a photo that meets these requirements:
    • Full face, centered, with no hats, sunglasses, or accessories.
    • Solid background.
  4. Upload a valid, unexpired government-issued ID matching your MyCCO account name.

Moving Forward with Confidence

The addition of the "Share" myCCO feature represents a significant step forward in simplifying and securing certification verification. By leveraging these digital tools, certificants can ensure their credentials are always accessible, accurate, and easy to share. Employers and stakeholders benefit from instant, real-time access to verified information, enhancing trust and efficiency.
