November 2018—NCCCO Auditors have been conducting practical exam audits at a record pace in 2018, with 307 completed during the first three quarters of the year. The NCCCO Audit Program provides a systematic means of ensuring that CCO practical tests are delivered in a consistent and fair manner, wherever and whenever they are administered.
One factor contributing to the increased audit activity is the recent expansion of the Verify CCO Online (VCO) system to now provide real-time accreditation information for Practical Examiners. Using the VCO system (available at www.verifycco.org), employers, test site coordinators, and even candidates can now double-check which CCO programs Practical Examiners are currently accredited to perform practical exams for. Discrepancies between VCO data and an Examiner’s accreditation card can raise a flag that may lead to an audit. Also, NCCCO’s new Program Integrity Hotline (accessible at 1-833-30-NCCCO and programintegrity@nccco.org) provides a direct means for anyone suspecting that unauthorized personnel may be conducting CCO practical exams to report such activity to NCCCO’s Program Integrity Team.
