February 2013 - As the number of CCO certification written exams administered since testing began in 1996 passes the 400,000 mark, the percentage of candidates taking CCO tests via NCCCO’s computer-based testing (CBT) option continues its record-setting pace. CBT test volume for 2012 was fully 40% above the previous year’s record and almost eight times that recorded for 2009, the first full year that CBT testing was available nationwide.
“CBT is increasingly proving to be a very attractive option for candidates taking recertification exams, as well as those who are re-testing or adding certifications to those already held,” said NCCCO Program Manager for Test Development, Joel Oliva. “The ease of scheduling along with instant score reporting are often cited by candidates as the primary reasons they go this route,” he added, “but we also know that the CBT test environment is often found to be less intimidating than the conventional paper-and-pencil administration.”
NCCCO provides a CBT option for all the 38 written exams utilized by the nine certification programs currently offered. Candidates can access test centers from the 260-location nationwide PSI/Lasergrade network by going to http://cert.psiexams.com/locateall.html.
